Apple has been providing valid international warranty for MacBooks and iPads since quite some time. This has allowed the buyers in India to not only take advantage of the international warranty service but also to avail these devices from the U.S. or other countries with cheaper pricing. However, the Cupertino-based company has never provided such kind of warranty on iPhones. Fresh information suggests that the company has discreetly revised the terms of international warranty to allow buyers to avail warranty in India even if they have purchased their iPhone from any other country.
This means even if a buyer has bought an iPhone in the recent past and it is still under warranty, he/she will be able to benefit from the international warranty. iPhone users in India should be aware of the fact that it is only applicable on factory unlocked iPhones and invalid on its carrier-locked variants in India. Even if the user manages to unlock the carrier model through means, he/she won’t be able to take advantage of the warranty.
Also, the revision in the terms of warranty will also encourage iPhone buyers in India to directly purchase the desired iPhone from the U.S. or any other country at a cheaper price. For instance, Apple is selling the 64 GB storage version of the iPhone X with a price tag of $999 (without taxes) in the U.S. However, in India the same model is priced at Rs. 89,000 (~$1,372) with taxes. Comparing the two prices, it can be understood that buying an iPhone X from the U.S. would allow a buyer in India to save around Rs. 25,000 and it will also bring along international warranty service.
People are usually skeptical about importing iPhones due to warranty concerns, but the introduction of international warranty will encourage them to purchase iPhones from aboard. The Cupertino-based company had updated the warranty terms around a week ago. However, it has happened just before the beginning of the iPhone X pre-orders that will begin on this Friday. The 64 GB and 256 GB iPhone X are respectively priced at Rs. 89,000 and Rs. 102,000 in India. Instead of purchasing the iPhone X by paying a huge price, one can avail it from markets like the U.S. and Hong Kong where it is available with inexpensive pricing. Before purchasing from another country, we advise our readers to read the terms and conditions carefully.
Now that Apple has in a way made it more convenient to purchase iPhones at a lower price from other countries, will you consider buying iPhones from abroad? Share us your views by adding your comments below.
